A box truck hauling ice overturned in the 4000 block of Erwin Highway shortly before 11:00 Thursday morning.
The driver, 24-year-old Austin Jackson, was traveling north when the vehicle ran off the left side of the road and overturned. The truck then came to an uncontrolled final rest in a grass field.
Jackson and a passenger, 34-year-old Vincente Ramirez Quiroz, were not injured in the accident, according to the report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Units from the Tusculum Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene. A fire department report says with heavy rains as crews were getting set up, there was a near miss of another accident as a tractor trailer came upon the scene and was unable to slow down. Volunteer firefighters were forced to drop equipment and jump for cover without further incident.
