The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture invites producers to the annual Steak and Potatoes Field Day. The event will feature experts from UT AgResearch and UT Extension who will share practical knowledge to help producers improve and grow their operations.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the Plateau AgResearch and Education Center in Crossville. Topics to be covered include cow efficiency, bull management, high-density fruit tree planting, and disease diagnostics for fruits and vegetables. Additional sessions will focus on the cost of establishing forage crops and a live food safety demonstration.
On-site registration will begin at 8:00 AM CDT, with presentations starting at 8:30 AM and concluding at 11:30 AM. A sponsored lunch will be provided following the seminars. Just five days later, on Tuesday, August 26, the Plateau AgResearch Center will also host the Fall Gardeners’ Festival at the same location. Conducted in partnership with the Cumberland County Master Gardeners, a UT Extension program, this event will appeal to gardeners and landowners of all experience levels. Attendees can enjoy educational presentations, hands-on workshops, exhibits, wagon tours, local garden vendors, and more.
