The Greene County Building and Zoning Department has gotten a jump start on the move to their new location in the Greene County Administration Center on Takoma Avenue.
The office, currently housed in the 9-1-1 building, will close at Noon today and be closed all day Friday as the move continues.
Mayor Morrison said Wednesday Tim Tweed and his team are well on the way toward being moved in. Once the soon to be former office location closes today, anything not moved already such as computers and other electronics needed to conduct day-to-day business will be transported to the new location on the first floor in Suite 102.
Beginning Monday, October 6 at 8:00 am, the department will operate normal hours from its new location. The department’s phone number will remain the same at 423-798-1724.
COUNTY CLERK
The County Clerks office will begin the move into the new location October 16-18th and will reopen for business on Monday, October 20th, the first of the offices currently housed at the Annex to relocate.
PARKING
Morrison reports there are 28 parking spaces and two handicapped spots at the annex, compared to 140 parking spaces in that front parking lot at the new location, including 14 which will be handicapped or limited mobility accessible.
COUNTY COMMISSION
The Greene County Commission will hold it’s first meeting at the new site on Monday, October 20th at 6:00 pm.
SECURITY
Morrison and Sheriff Wesley Holt say once the building is fully occupied, permanent security is expected to be in place through the Sheriff’s Department, somewhat like security at the Greene County Courthouse. Security is also planned during commission meetings.
