The TL;DR of our text group is that we will send messages that we deem important to the majority of our listeners. It may be an accident that is backing up traffic. It could be a coming storm. We may send out a text to alert you of breaking news on a national scale. We sent a text when the Boston Marathon bombing happened, when the Northern Lights were visible here in East Tennessee due to a solar storm, and one on the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. We may send texts alerting you to upcoming broadcasts or programming that feel a wide audience might be interested in. We did that when one of our local high school teams went to overtime in a state championship soccer game. Sometimes we might point out the lighter side of an incident, but never at the expense of someone’s privacy or out of disrespect, and we would never trivialize the suffering or pain from those impacted and involved in a new event. In fact, we often don’t send texts about a events that end tragically, unless there is an ongoing situation that the public would need to be made aware of.
Will every text you get apply directly and immediately to your life at that very moment? Absolutely not. We realize that not everyone has the same interests, needs, schedule, or priorities. And we realize that those criteria can change from person to person and day to day. But we try our best.
Our texts USUALLY go out between 8AM and 9PM. However, we will send messages earlier or later if circumstances require. If schools are dismissed because of weather, we may send an alert at 6AM. If a Tornado Warning is issued at 1AM, we may send that out, also. We weigh each and every text’s importance before we hit send.

Submissions: You may submit items to us through text message. Send us birthdays, anniversaries, items for the community calendar, Swap-n-Shop and Trading Post, or news items. We can also receive images via our text group. You can also e-mail us these items. We do not ask or encourage you to text or e-mail while driving, and do not advocate interfering with emergency responders or traffic control in any instance in order to send pictures. Texting while driving is dangerous and state law in Tennessee allows only for hands-free operation of devices in your car. DO NOT TEXT AND DRIVE.
