A Mosheim woman was indicted this week on charges of DUI and reckless endangerment from an incident last year in which she nearly drove a car off a cliff into the Nolichuckey River with her 10-year-old daughter in the car with her.
According to the warrant, Heather Owens of Forest Road, Mosheim, was the driver of a car that pulled into the driveway of a residence on Memory Lane off St. James Road. Witnesses observed her driving towards a cliff and began yelling at her to stop. Owens continued until she drove to the edge of the cliff where the car became stuck and was teetering on the edge, nearly falling into the river below.
Neither Owens nor her daughter were injured.
According to the indictment, Owens’ blood alcohol level was .245, three times over the legal limit.
