Two people were arrested on Sunday and charged with Public Intoxication.
Shena Hale of Greeneville was arrested for drunkenness at the intersection of Austin Street and Tusculum Boulevard. Someone reported hale appeared intoxicated while she was walking near the intersection. The complainant said Hale attempted to open her vehicle door when was passing on the roadway.
The Greeneville Police Department arrived on the scene and found Hale walking on the hot asphalt with out any shoes on. Hale thought it was Tuesday when speaking with the officer. She reportedly had an excited demeanor and was speaking incoherently.
According to the report, the police department dealt with Hale before and said the behavior has previously been observed when she was under the influence of drugs. Due to signs of intoxication and because Hale said she would be crossing the four lane highway, she was placed under arrest and was taken to the Greene County Detention Center.
A man from Greeneville was arrested near West Summer Street near the by-pass after it was reported he was lying on the side of the road. The man was found by officers lying in the wet grass and was identified as Lonny Goad. Goad was woken up by an officer and said he was just resting. He reportedly had glassy bloodshot eyes and there was a strong odor of alcohol. When asked to stand Goad stood up but fell backward onto the ground. He was arrested due to not being able to safely stand or walk near the highway.
