A Greeneville man was indicted on Wednesday by the Greene County Grand Jury on six charges, including five counts of aggravated assault, after an incident in Baileyton in March of last year.
According to court documents, Keenen Mica Murphy, Jr., caused the victims to be in fear of bodily injury by making several threats. Murphy was allegedly angry after getting woken up by one of the victims. He reportedly threw a spoon and a fan at a child in his home. He obstructed another victim from calling 911 and assaulted them as well as another child who was trying to help the victim. Murphy made threats stating he would shoot the victim in the head and then kill the children in the home. He also stated he would blow up the home with everyone inside.
Police officers responded to the residence on the Horton Highway but Murphy fled before their arrival. Murphy was eventually caught and located by Cocke County deputies after a pursuit began on the Cosby highway. His vehicle was unable to continue after his tires went flat near the Cocke/Sevier County line, at which point Murphy bailed from his car and ran into the woods. Cocke County deputies searched the area and found him about 30′ up hiding in a tree. Murphy complied with officer’s commands to come down and he was taken into custody.
