The Tennessee Department of labor & Workforce Development reported this afternoon that the state’s unemployment rate for March was 3.2 percent, down from 3.3 percent in February.
Between February and March, 10,600 nonfarm workers started new jobs across the state. During the past year, Tennessee employers added 16,700 nonfarm positions to the state’s workforce.
Tennessee’s unemployment rate a year ago was also 3.2 percent. The state’s all-time low unemployment rate is 3.1 percent, which was recorded during three months last year.
The national unemployment rate for March was 3.9 percent, down slightly from 3.8 percent.
County unemployment rates will be released next week.
