Today is what we use to refer to as Report Card day , as students in the Greene County School System can return on this final abbreviated day of the 2026-2027 school year. Buses will be running their regular routes.
On Thursday , educators celebrated the school year during the May meeting of the School Board at Chuckey Doak High School with the annual personnel awards.
Annual awards included the Judy Thompson Phillips Lifetime Contribution To Education Award, which as evidenced by this photo, appeared to catch Dr. Bill Ripley by surprise when he recognized it was him of who they were listing numerous contributions.
Dr. Ripley is retiring this year.
The Outstanding Service To Students Award was presented to Sarah Brown from West Greene Middle School.
Randy Richards from Baileyton Elementary was recognized as Principal of the Year. He was out of town so Assistant Principal Jeannie Carter accepted the award on his behalf.
Cody Self was presented the Way To Go Award
Tenure status was also granted for qualifying teachers.
Building Level Support Staff Of The Year was recognized, as were Building and District Level Teachers of the Year.
Classified and certified retirees as well as ESS Substitute Teachers were acknowledged.
Alexandria Smith and Mary Delmonte were named Substitutes of the Year.
