Excellence in the Greeneville City School System was recognized at the system’s annual Personnel Banquet, held at First Baptist Church on Thursday.
Among those recognized were special award winners, teachers of the year, and those retiring from the system.
Award Recipients were:
- Crystal Dykes, GHS teacher, received the Robert E. “Eddie” Jordan Character in Education Award.
- Kim Foulks, GMS teacher, received the Excellence in Technology Award.
- Kim Graham, Hal Hendard teacher, received the Excellence in Professional Learning Award.
- Jackie Seaton, a bus manager and mechanic with the system, received the Lyle Ailshie “Only the Best” Award.
- Eric Parker, a Tusculum View teacher, was named the recipient of the Dr. Earnest Martin Champion for Children Award.
- Dr. Ricky Witt of the Alternative Success Academy received the Dr. Linda Stroud Rising Star Award.
- J.P. Hall was named the Paraprofessional of the Year.
- Steve Spano received the Robert Keasling Friends of Education Award.
- Janet Ricker was presented with the Kay W. Leonard Outstanding Service to Students Award. The award was presented by Watson Leonard of the Leonard family, and is supported by the Greeneville City Schools Education Foundation.

- Heather Fay, Highland
- Brandy Rambo, Hal Henard
- Melissa Morgan, Tusculum View
- Talia Henderson, TOPS
- Wendy Hansard, Greeneville Middle School
- Cindy Propst, Greeneville High School
- Rob Robbins, Greeneville Career and Technical Academy
Lana Luttrell at Tusculum View was named Principal of the Year, and Melissa Batson, Chief Human Resource Officer, was named Supervisor of the Year.
District-wide teachers of the year were Rambo, Hansard, and Propst.
Retirees honored included: Janet Ricker from Hal Henard. Melissa Morgan, Eric Parker, Marsha Hybarger, Karen Ervin and Lesa Stafford from Tusculum View. Lisa Loewenkamp from Greeneville Middle School. Johnny Painter, Annette Watts, Miriam Shackleford, and Judy Smith from Greeneville High School. Larry Jones and Jackie Seaton from the Greeneville City Schools Operations Center. Julie Cannon, Karen Wilhoit, and Steve Starnes from Kathryn Leonard Central Office.
