A Chuckey man is facing charges after reportedly fleeing from Washington County authorities late Tuesday night.
Deputies were patrolling Kingsport Highway shortly before midnight Tuesday when they saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver, later identified as 23-year-old Joshua Rex Dunbar, allegedly attempted to evade deputies by turning onto a side road, continuing to speed, and then stopping at the intersection of Old Stage Road.
Dunbar immediately got out of the vehicle after stopping and attempted to flee on foot. Deputies apprehended him quickly in a wooded area adjacent to the roadway.
He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center for evading arrest, driving on a revoked license, and speeding.
