A man is facing charges after he allegedly fled from police with a dog inside his vehicle Sunday night.
Deputies with Greene County Sheriff’s Department saw a car matching the description of a suspicious vehicle. Deputies attempted to catch up to the vehicle going outbound on Cedar Creek Road. The driver, identified as Bobby Laws of Chickasaw Drive, allegedly accelerated to a high rate of speed and ignored lights and sirens. Laws reached speeds of over 70 mph on Cartwheel Road and ran a stop sign. He turned onto River Road, which has a dead end, and came to a stop in a driveway.
Laws reportedly said he did attempt to evade law enforcement and his gas pedal got stuck. After he was taken into custody, a pit bull was found in the car and had been inside during the erratic driving. A family member was called to retrieve the dog and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
Laws was charged with cruelty to animals, evading arrest, speeding, driving on a suspended license 1st offense, and traffic control device violation.
