The driver of a vehicle stopped by police on Thursday night is facing charges, while a passenger was taken into custody on an active warrant.
An officer with the Greeneville Police Department was dispatched to the Greeneville Commons around 9:00 PM on a possible DUI. Police followed the car on Tusculum Boulevard, where it hit the fog line twice and then the center line. The driver, Cody Reed of Milburnton Road in Limestone, was stopped as the car turned onto East Bernard Avenue.
Reed did not show indications that he was under the influence, but his license was discovered to be suspended. A passenger in the car, Matthew McInturff of East McKee Street, had an active failure to appear warrant out of Greene County and was transported to the Greene County Detention Center.
A K9 officer had a positive alert on the vehicle and a search was conducted. A glass pipe with drug residue and numerous Diazepam pills were found in the center console.
Reed was issued a criminal summons to appear in court for driving on a suspended license, possession of schedule 4 drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
