Tusculum Police Department Press Release
On Thursday March 7, 2024, at approximately 1:43pm, Chuckey Doak High School staff received a phone call stating there was an explosive device in the High School. A decision was made to evacuate the school for the safety of the students and staff. Officers from the Tusculum Police Department, the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to 365 Ripley Island Road inside the City of Tusculum.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Departments explosive sniffing dog responded to the school. With additional assistance from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department and the Town of Erwin Police Department’s explosive sniffing K9’s. No device was found, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the person responsible for making the false treat and intimidating the students and staff. It is important to hold accountable those who perpetrate these acts of intimidation.
It’s concerning to law enforcement to hear of such incidents, even though they turn out to be false alarms. We are fortunate that no device was found, and multiple agencies responded to ensure the safety of the students, staff, and community.
