Those who work in the Greene County Courthouse on a daily basis attended a Courthouse Security meeting last week.
The meetings are held quarterly with courthouse security and Greene County Sheriffs Department personnel to refresh and train those who work in the building on what action they should take in case of an emergency, whether it be natural such as a tornado , or manmade, such as an unwanted person in the building.

Radio Greeneville News was invited to sit in on the most recent security meeting. Without going into detail about specific security measures in place at the courthouse, we can tell you improvements over the past number of years such as the security measures just to enter the building off Main Street, have helped security keep a better account of exactly who is in the building, and more importantly why.
Courthouse employees are always encouraged to quietly notify security, through the electronic means made available to them, of anything or anyone suspicious or who may be becoming aggressive due to the issue which brought them to the building, whether it be criminal, civil or other.
The security measures in place and the efforts and procedures to assure safety for all concerned are of top priority to those who watch over the building everyday. And in this day of advanced technology, rest assured, whether you see them or not, those eyes are upon you and procedures are in place to address any issues quickly and decisively, if and when needed.
Officers involved in the meeting were Courthouse Security Supervisor Lt. Charles Morelock, Chief Deputy David Beverly, Captain Nick Milligan and Courthouse Security Officers Mike Musick and Pete Violette.
