High temperatures are not expected to get above freezing and overnight lows could be in the single digits over the next few days, which could cause problems with water pipes freezing.
Tyson Lamb with Chuckey Utility District and Laura White with the Greeneville Water Commission urged customers to be prepared for the frigid temperatures. Tips include making sure your homes plumbing system is protected from freezing. If you have any, or know of any, vacant properties, out-buildings, or other structures supplied by water, please keep a check on those as well. Check openings to areas underneath your house, especially underpinning of mobile homes, to reduce airflow. Never place a heater underneath a home to keep pipes warm as it could cause a greater fire risk. Report any water line breaks as quickly as possible to your utility.
Another round of very cold temperatures with single digits wind chills is expected late in the week and into next weekend.
