The First Christian Church, 1130 Temple Street, Greeneville will be buzzing with excitement on Friday, April 19, as the highly anticipated mobile Book Bus Summit comes to Greeneville. Sponsored by the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation (GELF), this event promises to be a dynamic gathering for current and aspiring leaders in the field of early childhood literacy.

The two Magic Book Buses of the Greene County Schools, as well as mobile book buses from counties in Northeast Tennessee will be open for tours as well beginning at 10 a.m.

Greene County is proud to host this year’s summit, providing a platform for individuals and organizations dedicated to promoting literacy and educational opportunities for young learners.  The event will feature Greene County’s two Magic Book buses, symbolizing the community’s commitment to bringing the joy of reading directly to children across the region.

The Book Bus Summit aims to unite leaders from various backgrounds and regions to celebrate successful literacy programs, exchange best practices and explore innovative strategies to enhance early childhood education. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with peers, receive support from GELF representatives and forge new connections to further their literacy initiatives.

“We are thrilled to host the Book Bus Summit in Greene County and to showcase our community’s dedication to literacy,” said Misty Mercer, reading specialist with the Greene County School System. “This event provides a unique forum for collaboration and learning, empowering leaders to make a positive impact on the lives of young children through the power of books and education.”

Throughout the summit, participants will engage in interactive sessions, panel discussions and workshops designed to foster collaboration and inspire action. Whether attendees are seasoned veterans in the field or newcomers eager to make a difference, the Book Bus Summit offers something for everyone passionate about advancing early childhood literacy.
