Two men were charged with DUI in separate incidents on Saturday.
Around 2:45 AM, a deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to the report of a DUI at the Baileyton Highway and Spider Stines Road intersection. the vehicle was reportedly swerving and had a very inconsistent speed. The driver was identified as Alex McGhee. He had an empty bottle of beer in the back floorboard of the car, along with two unopened bottles in the front floorboard. He smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests. He was arrested for DUI 1st offense and driving on a suspended or revoked license 2nd offense.
A deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Hal Henard Road and West Andrew Johnson Highway intersection on the report of a DUI around 4:00 AM. Upon his arrival, he saw a vehicle stuck in a ditch backing onto the roadway. As the deputy approached the vehicle, it went past him and continued toward West Andrew Johnson Highway. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver, Sebastian Lopez of Leonard Street, smelled of alcohol. He performed poorly on a field sobriety test and blew a .102 on a breath test. He was taken into custody for DUI and driving on a revoked license 1st offense.
