Greeneville Energy Authority President/CEO Dwayne Wells was guest speaker during the October meeting of the Greene County Republican Party Monday evening.
Wells updated the group on the history of GEA and its affiliation with TVA, plans moving forward including an update on the Broadband wireless program.
Other notes from his comments:
- 73 cents of every dollar received from customers goes to TVA
- GEA pays around two and a half million dollars a year to Greeneville and Greene County in lieu of taxes, around $221,000 a month.
- The two current solar sites result in around $760,000 in costs which would be paid to TVA if not for the solar sites. The third site at Albany, when completed later this month, should bring that savings total to over $1 million dollars with another $180,000 in savings when the Carroll County site is complete. The last hub at Albany went online last week.
