A former Greeneville man was arrested over the weekend on aggravated domestic assault charges in Washington County.
Washington County Sheriff Keith Sexton says deputies responded to an Old Wagon Road residence around 7:30 Saturday morning, where the victim told them that during an argument Liam Lawlor pointed a firearm at her, threatened to kill her, and shoved her into a window so hard it shattered. She had injuries consistent with her statement and broken glass was on the floor in the home.
Lawlor admitted to being previously convicted of aggravated assault and a criminal history check confirmed his history. A search warrant was obtained for his residence, and deputies found several rounds of ammunition along with loaded AR and 9 mm magazines. No firearms were located during the search of the residence.
Lawlor was transported to the Washington County Detention Center and was being held without bond pending a court appearance Wednesday morning.
The now 26-year-old former Greeneville High student was one of four teenagers wanted for questioning in April of 2014 in connection with the shooting death of 36-year-old Robert Blanchard at his Snapps Ferry Road home in Greene County. Lawlor was 15 at the time when he and three other teens were apprehended in South Carolina following a nearly eight hour manhunt. Eventually, the man’s son, Zachary Thomas Blanchard was charged with the first degree murder of his father as well as aggravated robbery. Lawlor was later found guilty in juvenile court of being an accessory after the fact of first-degree murder and theft over $1,000. In December of 2015, Lawlor fled the juvenile facility where he was being held in Nashville. That escape led to a modified lockdown in the Greeneville City school system due to his status as a former student. He was taken back into custody in Nashville five days later.
Lawlor has had at least three other incidents locally since 2017. He was charged with assaulting his girlfriend at a Fairfield Drive residence in November of 2017, assaulting a woman during an incident on the 107 Cutoff in July of 2021 and an assault on a woman in a restaurant parking lot which required hospital treatment for the female in October of 2023.
According to the Tennessee Department of Correction , Lawlor was on probation at the time of his arrest on Saturday in Washington County.
