An Alabama man was charged in Greene County following an incident at Love’s Travel Center on Lonesome Pine Trail late Wednesday night.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene around 11:00 PM after receiving a complaint of a trucker refusing to move his tractor-trailer from an area where he was told not to park. When deputies spoke with the suspect, James Shanks of Hayneville, Alabama, about moving the truck, he replied “probably not.”
Shanks was informed if he did not move it, he would be trespassed from the property. He still refused. Deputies then asked for his identification for a trespassing warning and he refused to follow orders.
Shanks was told he was now under arrest, but he resisted. He continued to resist deputies and was tased, which reportedly did not have the desired effect. Shanks eventually complied and was taken into custody without further incident.
He was charged with disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest.
