A Greeneville man reported a scam to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Monday.
The victim said he got a phone call stating he had received a grant through the Department of Health and Human Services. The caller told the victim he needed to purchase apple gift cards to claim his grant. The man was able to get $200 worth of gift cards for the caller.
The victim then said the caller wanted more money via a gift card. At that point, the victim realized it was a scam and reported the incident to police.
