Officers were dispatched to a multi-car hit and run early Friday morning near the 600 block of the Asheville Highway.
A witness told police that a black vehicle with no lights hit his vehicle and another vehicle. The witness reported that he believed the suspect, later identified as Justin Gillespie, intentionally struck his vehicle several times.
Officers located Gillespie, unresponsive, inside his wrecked vehicle on Benbow Road. CPR was performed until EMS arrival, and Narcan was administered on the scene. Gillespie was transported to Greeneville Community Hospital for medical care. According to the report, damage to property, and driving under the influence, among other charges are pending blood test results.
