A storage barn in the 3400 block of Chuckey Pike was destroyed by fire Wednesday evening.
Units from the Tusculum, Limestone, and Nolichuckey Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the 10:28 pm call at the John D. Carter property.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department report indicated Carter’s granddaughter heard a loud pop then saw flames. Carter arrived and shut off power to the barn which was engulfed a shorty time later.
1920, 1925 and 1930 Massey Ferguson tractors were destroyed, along with a trailer and other miscellaneous tools. The report valued the tractors at $12,000, the trailer at $3,000 and the building at $50,000.
The report indicates no foul play was believed to have been involved.
Greene County EMS and Greeneville Energy Authority also responded.
