The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a Flood Advisory in effect until 12:45 this afternoon for a portion of East Tennessee, including Greene, Cocke, Hamblen and Jefferson County.
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected, with minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
At 10:21 am today, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
