Rufe Taylor Road woman was charged with Cruelty to Animals, after she went through a car wash with her dogs in the back of her truck.
Officers arrived at the Wash Depot on Erwin Highway Friday morning to speak with employees there. Officers were reportedly told a female had started to enter the touchless wash with two dogs in the bed of the truck. The woman was stopped and told that the soap used to clean cars burns when it comes into contact with skin and that she shouldn’t enter the wash bay.
According to the report, however, the female, who was later identified as Lesley McCullough of Rufe Taylor Road, proceeded to drive into the car wash with the dogs, which were neither tied nor in a cage. Video footage confirmed the details, as well as the truck leaving the bay mid-wash.
When McCullough was located, she allegedly stated she had not taken her dogs through the car wash. When told there was video of the actions, she allegedly told officers she hadn’t hurt the dogs, and reportedly stated she had taken them through the car wash “hundreds of times” and they were fine.
McCullough was issued a criminal summons for two counts of Animal Cruelty with the court date being tomorrow morning at 8:30.
