A Greeneville man was arrested for aggravated assault charges on Saturday, after he had fled from police.
Police were called to Heatherwood Loop Thursday evening. The victim told officers she and the man, Cody Hatter, had gotten into a series of arguments. The victim alleged Hatter had chocked her, pushed her down, and cut her with a large pocketknife. A warrant was issued for Hatter’s arrest, but he was not located until the following day.
Officers found Hatter at Heatherwood Loop around 10:20 the Friday morning. Hatter was seen running toward the back door and officers chased Hatter on foot toward The Commons, ordering him to stop multiple times. Behind the buildings of the Commons, a taser was deployed which stopped Hatter, who was then taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
Once Hatter was discharged from the hospital Saturday afternoon, he was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Detention Center, charged with the warrant arrest for Aggravated Assault, as well as Evading Arrest.
