A Greeneville man was arrested Sunday evening for DUI and possession of a handgun while under the influence.
An officer with the Greeneville Police Department was on patrol around 8:00 PM and saw a vehicle driving left of center down South McKee Street. The driver corrected for an oncoming vehicle. Once that vehicle passed, the driver again crossed the center line and continued until another vehicle was approaching. That time, the driver did not correct and the officer initiated a traffic stop.
When asked for his license, registration, and proof of insurance, the driver appeared to struggle with retrieving his license and handed the officer his handgun carry permit. The driver was identified as Tristan Borden of Red Hill Road. Borden had a 9mm gun in his waistband, which was removed and placed in the patrol car for safe keeping.
Borden reportedly performed poorly on field sobriety tests. He was transported to the Greene County Detention Center for DUI, possession of a handgun while under the influence, and violation of implied consent. He was also cited for driving left of center.
