Morristown West Track and Field Meet Showcases Stellar Performances
MORRISTOWN, Tenn. — The Morristown West Track and Field Meet hosted an exciting evening of athletic achievements, featuring standout performances from South Greene, Chuckey-Doak, and West Greene high schools. The event saw Ava Clark of South Greene setting a new school record, while local athletes clinched numerous gold medals and personal bests.
South Greene Dominates with Record-Breaking Performances
The South Greene girls’ team stole the show, claiming victory in multiple events. Ava Clark demonstrated her prowess by not only setting a new school record in the 100-meter hurdles but also securing first place in the long jump with a new personal best. Alexa Gabbard excelled, taking first in the high jump and triple jump, along with a second-place finish in the long jump. Natalie Freise displayed her strength in the 300-meter hurdles, securing first place for South Greene. Other notable performances included Heath Norton’s first-place finish in shot put, along with Nolan Weems’ triumph in pole vault. The girls’ relay teams were unstoppable, claiming first place in the 4×100, 4×200, and 4×800 events.
On the boys’ side, in addition to Norton and Weem’s, South Greene’s Zeke Rader and Noah Case contributed significant points with their performances in pole vault and distance events, respectively. Despite strong competition, South Greene’s boys’ team displayed tenacity, finishing third overall in the competitive six-school meet.

Chuckey-Doak’s athletes also left their mark on the meet. Isaiah Treadway’s standout performance in the long jump earned him a first-place finish for the boys’ team. Carlene Bishop and Niome Merrill showcased their speed in the 100 and 200 meters, claiming podium finishes. Carmela Smock dominated the 1600 meters, securing first place for Chuckey-Doak’s girls’ team.
Meanwhile, West Greene’s Abbey Cox demonstrated her dominance in throwing events, claiming first place in both discus and shot put for the girls’ team. Sophia Taylor’s second-place finish in the 1600 meters highlighted the team’s performance.
