Update at 10 AM – April 17th, 2024
An Afton man died Tuesday after he was involved in a tractor accident just after 8PM in the 1800 block of Charles Johnson Road.
According to the report, deputies received a call stating a tractor flipped over on top of a man, later identified as Robert J. Clark. Clark was reported to be unresponsive by the witness, who said he was trapped underneath the tractor, which did not have a cab cover. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and found Clark, who was reportedly in a fetal position under the tractor.
The report states Clark was doing work on the land over the past three days for the witness and wanted to speak with the man regarding the job. When the man was walking down the driveway to speak with Clark he saw the tractor roll over off of a trailer. It came to a rest on top of Clark.
The victim will be sent for an autopsy. Also responding to the scene were EMS, the Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad, the Limestone Volunteer Fire Department, Washington County Rescue, and the David Crockett State Park Ranger.
