A man was arrested following an aggravated assault incident Saturday at the Andrew Johnson Inn on East Andrew Johnson Highway.
The Greeneville Police Department responded to the scene around 7:00 PM on the report of a fight in progress involving two men and there was a gun.
Officers made contact with the suspect, Connor Macpherson, who was in his room and refused to talk about the incident. Macpherson was patted down and a firearm was found in his right front pocket. An odor of alcohol was detected on him as well.
The victim told police Macpherson came into his room and assaulted him. He allegedly pulled out a knife and pointed it at the victim. As Macpherson was leaving, he reportedly raised the gun in the air and shot it toward the fairgrounds. The victim stated Macpherson then turned around and pointed the gun at him. Three witnesses all heard the gunshot, but stayed in their rooms. Another witness told police he saw the whole incident occur.
Macpherson was transported to the Greene County Detention Center for aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
