The wreaths donated to the Wreaths of Remembrance program for the Andrew Johnson National Cemetery were transported with a Police and Fire Department escort to the site this morning.
The tractor trailer carrying more than 2,000 wreaths was accompanied by the Greeneville Police and Fire units, Tusculum Police and Fire and the Mosheim Fire Department.
Members of the U.S. Military Veterans Motorcycle Club, and a Vietnam-era Army vehicle from A Walk in Their Boots, a historical reenactment group from Northeast Tennessee were also in the procession.
The convoy left Lowes at 8:45 am. The convoy then traveled 11-E onto Tusculum Boulevard then to Main Street through downtown then to the National Cemetery on Monument Avenue.
Volunteers are placing wreaths on veterans’ graves today in preparation for the Day of Dedication ceremony this Saturday morning at 11:30 at the Andrew Johnson National Cemetery.
