During the Greeneville City Schools Board Retreat Beverly Miller, Assistant Director for Administration/Chief Technology Officer, and Phillip Graham, Operations Supervisor, gave a presentation on recent accomplishments and projects that are in motion.
Accomplishments: roof project at East View elementary School, replacement of fan motor in the cooling tower at Greeneville High School, remodeled space to accommodate new Engineering Program at GHS, installation of exterior door and gate for the George Clem Success Academy and generator at the Operations Center, landscaping at GHS costing about $47,000, installation of new awning at Highland Elementary School, and safety pads in Greeneville Middle School’s Gym walls.
Capital Projects
During the presentation Miller expressed the current list of capital projects identified is more than $35M, $35,216,220 in total. Some of the projects will be paid for with grant and ESSER Funds.
Priority Capital Projects for this school year/projects that could potentially be done include: a $295,000 project for the Dale Alexander Field. According to the Parks and Recreation Department, lights and poles at the field need to be replaced. The wooden poles were first added in 1976.
Lighting at Fox Field also needs to be invested in, with an estimate of over $9,000.
School Resource Officers and the Greeneville Police Department have identified over $2M in safety and security at the schools that should be addressed. A list was provided to the board of the issues that should be looked into.
The second phase of the landscaping project at GHS, for $48,000.
The roof replacement at Highland, estimated at $195,000 and HVAC units at Highland, estimated for $400,000.
