A Greeneville man was indicted by the Greene County Grand Jury this week with Aggravated Rape, Aggravated Kidnapping, Interference with Emergency Communication, Attempted Arson, and more.
According to the indictment, on August of 2023 Robert M. Boardman committed the offense of attempted arson after he used paper towels and placed them in a gas tank and then lit it, causing damage to a truck with fire. He reportedly interfered with emergency communication by stopping a victim from calling 911, as well kidnapping the victim and confining them, while armed with a weapon. The victim was allegedly raped by Boardman as he used forced, still armed with the weapon, that being a knife. He was additionally charged with Aggravated Assault and Vandalism with damage over $1,000 but less than $2,500.
Around 30 others were indicted this week on charges including Driving Under the Influence, Evading Arrest, several drug related charges, Theft, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Attempted Burglary.
Billy Bob Campbell of Greeneville was charged with Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Assault to a First Responder after allegedly strangling or attempting to strangle a deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, causing bodily injury in October 2023.
Anthony Southerland of Greeneville was indicted with 14 charges including Reckless Driving, Felony Evading Arrest, Tampering with Evidence, and DUI. All reportedly happened in January 2023 when he was fleeing from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and threw a bag out of his vehicle containing paraphernalia. He was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (one-half gram of Methamphetamine) with intent to deliver, Simple Possession of a Schedule VI substance (one-half ounce of Marijuana), and Violation of Complied Consent Law.
Evan Monk of Chuckey was charged with 11 counts of Forgery and one count of Theft. In October of last year, Monk allegedly forged many checks while posing as another person, committing the offense of defrauding a bank. According to the indictment, he passed checks totaling over $3,500.
