A man was arrested Saturday for being in possession of a handgun while under the influence after he was found passed out in a vehicle.
Deputies responded to McDonald Road in Midway before 6 PM and found Mark L. Andris of Rogersville asleep behind the wheel of his truck. The engine was reportedly still on with the truck in drive. Deputies had to place it in park and remove the keys from the ignition.
According to the report, Andris smelled of alcohol but after waking up denied drinking anything. Field sobriety tests were given due to the odor and his behavior, he allegedly performed poorly. During inventory of the vehicle a loaded handgun was found in the center console. He was arrested and transported to the Greene County Detention Center.
On Sunday, it was confirmed by the Sheriff’s Department that Andris was involved in an accident in which he hit a mailbox at a business and destroyed it. His license plate number was caught by a witness after he was seen swerving in the road, according to the report.
