A woman was transported to the hospital Friday after deputies responded to a Chuckey home on the report of a gunshot wound to the head.
According to the report, a male was found outside a camper on Horace Bitner Road with blood on his shirt when deputies arrived. He said the victim shot herself and he was trying to stop her. The alleged suspect was detained until investigators arrived. EMS removed the victim from the camper and took her to the Johnson City Medical Center.
The Department of Children Services was reportedly called to the scene for two children. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Criminal Investigation Department were also called and executed a search warrant. The investigation is continuing.
