A teenager involved in a motor vehicle accident near McDonald Road earlier this week has died from his injuries.
16 year-old Gage Allendale Gray died Monday afternoon, according to the obituary from Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Gray was one of five people involved in the accident around midnight. He and two others were reportedly sitting in the bed of a truck before the incident. The vehicle, driven by 20 year-old Rodney Scudgington, was traveling west on McDonald Road and made a left turn at a curve, causing Gray to fall out the bed of the truck. The teen was transported to the Johnson City Medical Center.
Gray was pronounced dead as of Monday but was kept on a ventilator so his organs could be donated, according to family members. The Tennessee Highway Patrol report states charges are pending for the driver. He and the passengers were not injured in the crash.
The family will receive family and friends at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home on Sunday, October 1st, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at Brown Springs Baptist Church on Monday, October 2nd, 2023 at 2 PM.
