A structure fire was reported at Artazn, formerly known as Jarden Zinc, on 2500 Old Stage Road Wednesday morning.
Greeneville Fire Department’s Fire Chief Alan Shipley stated the fire was reported around 5 AM. Fire fighters were directed to the small fire by Artazn employees. According to the report from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, deputies spoke with an employee who stated a crane on one of the lines caught on fire and was unable to be contained.
Shipley says the fire was extinguished and the scene was cleared around 8 AM. No injuries or environmental issues were reported. Greeneville, Tusculum, Newmansville, and Limestone Fire Departments responded to the scene. Also responding were Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Tusculum Police Department, Greeneville Energy Authority, Greeneville/Greene County EMS, and Greene County Emergency Management.
