Proposed legislation in Nashville raising the current 9-1-1 surcharge from its current $1.50 to $1.86 would mean an additional $330,000 for the local 9-1-1 operations.
9-1-1 Director Jerry Bird told board members Tuesday the legislation has the support of local legislators Steve Southerland in the Senate and David Hawk in the House.
If approved, the new rate would go into effect in January 2026.
