A Greeneville woman was scammed out of more than $1000 last week.
The victim told police she had received a phone call informing her that her food stamp account was on hold. The automated call requested she verify a card number and pin, which she provided.
On Thursday, the woman’s card was declined while attempting to make a transaction and she viewed her account. She reported several $200 and $300 purchases made at unrecognized locations.
The Department of Human Services informed the woman she had been scammed, and the card was deactivated.
