A woman was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center Sunday about 12:30 AM after injuries sustained in a fire at her apartment on Thornwood Drive.
The Greeneville Fire Department and EMS responded to the fire reported at Plaza Towers. Dispatch was notified of a female tenant that was inside the apartment injured. Upon arrival the manager led officers to the apartment that was full of smoke and found the female inside the living room face down.
The tenant had extensive burns on her body but was still conscious and alert. Officers retrieved a fire extinguisher to put out remaining embers in the bedroom. The tenant was assisted to the ambulance and airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center.
According to Patrol Captain Timothy Davis with the Greeneville Police Department, no foul play was suspected.
