Scammers claiming to be taking up donations for flood victims have been reported in the area.
Radio Greeneville News received reports that people have been going door-to-door saying they are collecting money for Camp Greene or other organizations to help flood victims. While supplies continue to be distributed around the county, no one is going door-to-door collecting monetary donations.
Residents are also advised to continue to be aware of scam artists who present fake badges and ID tags saying they are with a government agency or otherwise providing flood relief. No agency official is going door-to-door offering or soliciting services.
Citizens are advised to not give monetary donations or any personal information to anyone going door-to-door and call 911 to report them.
