The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is investigating several thefts and break-ins that have been reported since Friday.
A resident of Morgan Loop reported on Friday after that a Husqvarna riding mower was stolen sometime in the last two week. the mower had been parked on the back side of the property and was covered up. Two possible suspects were named. The mower is valued at $3,200.
A Shady Lane resident reported on Sunday evening that within the last 24 hours, someone cut the lock on a barn on the property and stole a side-by-side vehicle and a rifle in the front seat. The vehicle is valued at $20,000, while the rifle is valued at $800.
An Asheville Highway couple reported Sunday evening that a 16-foot trailer was stolen from underneath a carport next to their house. The victims said the theft occurred on Friday and two possible suspects were named in the report. The trailer is valued at $10,000.
A White Sands Road resident reported on Sunday afternoon a shed on the property had tools stolen from it. The building was also damaged during the theft and a hole was found in one of the walls. Loss is estimated at $1,500. Two suspects were named in the report.
An Airport Road woman report Sunday afternoon that her 2004 gray Dodge Caravan was taken from her driveway. The victim said her keys were left in the unlocked vehicle on Saturday night. When she woke up Sunday morning, the van was gone. The vehicle is valued at $1,500.
Shortly after midnight this morning, a South Greene Street woman reported that she saw a man in a denim jacket trying to get into her house. The woman said she did not know the identity of the suspect. The man reportedly broke the screen on the patio door in an attempted to gain entry into the home. No one was on the property when deputies arrived on the scene.
