Greeneville Public Works crews will be making water drainage repairs along Newport Highway on Wednesday, March 1 from 7:00 PM until the work is completed.
During this time Wednesday night, which is estimated to take 5 or 6 hours, both lanes of the Newport Highway will be closed from the intersection at Asheville Highway to Marshall Lane.
Traffic going northeast on Newport Highway will be detoured at Marshall Lane to West Vann Road, which connects back to the Asheville Highway. Traffic from West Main Street going toward Newport Highway will need to turn left on Asheville Highway, right on West Vann Road, and right on Marshall Lane to bypass the closed area. Minor delays are to be expected while work is in progress.
Motorists are urged to slow down, obey detours, and use extreme caution while traveling in this area. Residents of the closed area will be allowed access.
