The Greeneville Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved the rezoning of a portion of property located on West Main Street, currently known as a Marathon Convenience Store and Gas Station. A new gas station will be placed across the street and will be newer and better than the original across the street.
This change will allow for a safer entrance and exit as the current one is known to have accidents and is known to be dangerous. The property owner will need to have buffering in place and a second reading and public hearing will be approved in January.
The board approved the change that will allow alcohol and beer to be sold as previously it stated No class “A” or “B” permit shall be issued to an applicant for any location that is within two hundred (200) feet from any church, public or private primary, or secondary school.
Mayor Cal Doty wanted to add considering a Christmas bonus to all employees onto the agenda. That was approved and all employees will be receiving a $750 bonus.
