The Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service in Morristown has issued an advisory regarding today’s heat index and potential severe weather threat.
The risk of severe weather in Greene County today is slight, but present. If strong storms make an appearance, the main threats would be damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall with localized flooding.
The main concern is the elevated heat index expected today. The temperatures are expected to be in the high 80’s, around 88, but with a heat index of around 94 or 95. Be sure to drink water and take breaks from outside activities today.
EMA personnel will be monitoring the weather all day, and during the events at the Downtown 4th of July Celebration beginning at 4:00 pm.
