Over two and a half years since his arrest, trial for a man facing numerous charges related to sex with a child has been set to begin September 14th of this year.
Kenneth Lynn Lamons and his attorney Gene Scott appeared in Greene County Criminal Court today before Judge John F. Dugger.
As part of the pre-trial motions hearing this afternoon, it was decided statements made to investigators by the alleged victim will be reviewed by the judge before determining their potential use at trial.
Lamons was 37 at the time of his arrest January 5th of 2024 following a lengthy investigation into the reported child abuse case.
Last year he was indicted on eight counts of rape of a child, three counts of aggravated sexual battery, one count of attempted rape of a child, one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child and incest. The state according to Assistant District Attorney Emily Burnett, has withdrawn the incest charge, with the option to reinstate it if they deem it necessary at a later time.
Although defense attorney Scott says there will be no plea for his client, the state requested and received a plea deadline date of September 1st.
Lamons remains free on bond pending trial.
