Tennessee Governor Bill Lee will be in Greene County Tuesday during a three stop tour to recognize the Farmland Preservation Act Signing.
In May , the Governor Bill Lee signed the Farmland Preservation Act, landmark legislation ensuring farms can be preserved for future generations. Upon passage into law with the Governor’s signature, the Farmland Preservation Act establishes a permanent conservation easement and creates a grant fund to support farmers who voluntarily choose to protect their farmland. The legislation passed with broad bipartisan support
The event Tuesday is part of the Voices and Volunteers: America 250 Celebration and will be held in Afton at the Rocky Field Farm on Doak Hensley Road at 10 am.
The Governor is also scheduled for similar events in Franklin and Covington Tuesday.
