Police were dispatched to a business on Depot Street around midnight, for a burglary in progress.
When officers arrived, they found a man eating inside Tipton’s Cafe. Trouble was, Tiptons’s was closed at the time.
The man, identified as William L. Bales of Cutler Street, was sitting inside the closed Cafe and detained by police. Bales reportedly had slurred speech when speaking with officers, and had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. According to the report, a chair was near the business’s door, which is believed to have been used to break the glass to gain entry.
Multiple food items were reportedly consumed, valued at $100. After investigating the incident, Bales was arrested for burglary and public intoxication.
