A Chuckey woman was arrested Thursday with several charges following a report regarding a woman seen slumped over the wheel at Ingles.
The Greeneville Police Department responded to 2845 East Andrew Johnson Highway around 8 AM and found the running vehicle parked in front of the store. The female, later identified as Brenda Baird, was still slumped over the steering wheel. When she woke she told officers she got off work around 6:30 AM.
According to the report, due to the nature of the call, a sobriety test was given. Baird allegedly performed poorly and was arrested for driving under the influence. During an inventory of the vehicle, several baggies with a variety of pills were located, including one Percocet, eight Hydroxyzine, two Zonfra, and seven Lortab. A large amount of cash was also located in her purse.
Baird reportedly refused to give a blood sample. A search warrant was obtained and served. She was transported to the Greene County Detention Center and additionally charged with possession of legend drug without a prescription, schedule II drug violations, schedule IV drug violations, and violation of implied consent.
